Maybe This or Maybe That...
I have been reading the book Can't Get There From Here, I have only read 12 chapters but a lot has happened in the book so far. In the beginning, Maybe, the main character and some other street kids such as Rainbow, 2moro and Maggot are roaming around until they find someone they try to steal money from but end up failing. Later, in a conversation between Maybe, Tears, Rainbow, and 2moro they explain how they became street kids. Then a man and woman try to help some of them except OG another homeless person but is over 18. No of the kids listen to them because they didn't want to live by their rules. Maybe eventually tries to make so money since she began not feeling well but only made four dollars, which she bought ginger ale to help subside her stomach pain. After all that, Maggot makes some money but selling fake drugs that he would use to buy Maybe some medicine. That is what mostly happened between chapter one to twelve.
The main character Maybe is a very genuine person. Throughout the book this is quite obvious, she does a lot of things to help other people even though she doesn't have much. As stated in Can't Get There From Here, "...Rainbow said. 'Maybe you could keep enough for the ginger ale and give the rest to me huh?' ...If Rainbow needed the money I was glad to give the rest to her." Also she in the beginning of the she tries to stop the other street kids from steal money from a man. This shows she's genuine because she cares about the other street kids and is willing to help them even though she doesn't have a lot to give.

I agree Maybe does sound like a genuine person. Throughtout your explaination you said that Maybe helps street kids. Does she help out people other than street kids?

Not really because the only people she actually communicates with are street kids like herself, however she only helps the ones she knows.
