I have read a few more chapters of the book, Can't Get There From Here. Maybe stomach pains get worse, but Maggot offer to give her some money after he sells some fake drugs. Later, Maybe meets a man that is willing to help her but she doesn't give him a straight answer, all she says in maybe. So, the man just moves on to find another street kid to help out. While Maybe was roaming the streets she came across a library, and one of the workers, Anthony, gave her some food and some better clothing and said she could come there anytime and ask for him.
Another main character in the book Can't Get There From Here is Maggot. Maggot is one of the only boys except Jewel and OG. He tries hard to make money buy scamming people. As read in the book "Maggot held out the five dollar bill flat and tight between his fingers. 'Worked like a charm. The sign pulls them in, but you know what really ices the deal? Spelling marijuana wrong. It brings out their the middle-class guilt about the poor getting a crap education." This shows he had a whole entire plan, to trick people into giving him money. Also, stated in the book, "You start with 25 cents worth of aspirin and convert that into sixty bucks worth of roofies that I'll sell at The Cradle for a hundred and eighty. This show is a manipulative person, he is willing to do anything just to make some money, even though he could get in trouble and end up in jail.

I agree, Maggot seems to be a very manipulative person. Your quotes strongly support that. Does all of his scams work?
ReplyDeleteI like the way your quotes supported that Maggot was a manipulative person. Also, I have the same question as Johnson.
